THE KARAKORAM

The Karakoram mountain range is located in the regions spanning Pakistan, India, and China. It is home to some of the world's highest peaks, including K2, the second-highest mountain in the world. Named by early explorers and surveyors, particularly during the Great Trigonometrical Survey of India in the 19th century. The name "Karakoram" is derived from Turkic words meaning "Black Gravel."
